What is Wave Flip?

Wave Flip is a 2D endless surfing game by phillystudios. You play it free in the browser on CrazyGames, on a desktop, phone, or tablet, and the same game is listed inside the CrazyGames app on iOS and Android. Use the official browser page to play; the platform also lists the CrazyGames app.

The loop is short on purpose. You ride, hit a wave, leave the water, flip, and land clean so the combo continues. A bad landing ends the run. The longer a run lasts, the taller the waves get, and a storm shows up later. The public game page describes this loop. The developer's public itch.io announcement also discusses earning coins, vehicles, and later storms; overlapping developer descriptions remain one underlying source. Coins come from score. The CrazyGames description spends them on skins. The developer's itch.io announcement says coins buy different vehicles. These descriptions have different scopes: the platform names skins, while the developer names vehicles. Neither publishes an exchange rate.

As of 6 November 2026 the CrazyGames page showed 9.6 out of 10, with 271 likes and 12 dislikes. The page data also lists 283 ratings. Those counts move. I date them instead of treating them as a standing score.

How to play

On a keyboard, W speeds up, S slows down, A leans back into a backflip, D leans forward into a frontflip, Space uses the ride's special ability, and P pauses. On a phone, holding the left side speeds up and rotates backward, holding the right side slows down and rotates forward, and a Special button uses the ability. Very small screens drop the left/right split and only keep a hold-to-rotate control plus Special. The full timing notes live on the controls page.

Top tips

The official description says a clean landing keeps the combo going and a missed landing ends the run. The platform and the developer announcement both describe later storms; these are two public records rather than two independent tests. I leave the exact second a storm starts blank, because nobody has published that number. Practice order and combo habits are on tips and backflips.

Three rides

The CrazyGames listing names three rides: surfboard, speedboat, and kiteboard. They do not handle the same way. No speed, turn rate, or special-ability effect has been published, so the vehicles table keeps those cells empty. The public developer announcement also mentions buying vehicles, but does not name the rides individually. Each named ride therefore carries one-source status. Compare the published options before treating a skin name as a separate ride.

Same name, different thing

Search results for this name are crowded. Ki Mobility makes a Little Wave Flip wheelchair. Puma sells Wave Flip sandals. Rocket League players say "wave flip reset" for a car mechanic. Steam lists a different game called FLIP WAVE. None of those is this surfing game. If you wanted the browser game, the CrazyGames page by phillystudios is the one this guide follows.
